The Manhattan Project
This project is about the rejection of the Manhattan model, a dominant type that has been driven by the constraints imposed by the typical plot, which inevitably lay out the typical plan. Instead, the project explores the possibility of achieving the same office area by combining 6 master plots. This creates a mat-type building with a combination of plazas and courtyards as public realm. The stacking and layering of floor plates also result in more public spaces, which can easily be connected to Manhattan’s High Line, ultimately reflecting a vision of New York City itself.
